The Learner and Learning

 INTASC Standard 1: Learner Development

The artifact I chose is an informational adobe-sparks video created in the educational psychology course at the College of Menominee Nation. The video tells of American psychologist, Jerome Bruner. The requirements were to create a short video and  present it to the class. The video I prepared highlights Jerome Bruner’s significant contributions to human cognitive psychology and cognitive learning theory in educational psychology.

INTASC Teacher Standard Alignment

This artifact addresses INTASC standard 1: Learner Development- “The teacher understands how learners grow and develop, recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and designs and implements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences.”

This artifact aligns with this standard because this informational video allows me to better understand how learners before me have grown and developed. Researching American psychologist Jerome Bruner has allowed me to recognize that learning and development vary.

The video presented is a short five minute video about the psychologist’s educational journey. It is a creative way to display many of Jerome Bruner’s lifelong accomplishments.

I learned the significance in researching another’s educational philosophy. Much can be learned from the lifelong work and dedication of others passionate about the same things. I also learned that technology can be effectively used to deliver an abundance of complex information. I liked learning how to integrate technology and think this is a unique way to deliver such an important topic. Creating this video has helped me see how important paying attention to detail truly is. What I have learned through this experience will impact my community by learning to organize, present information, and know how to integrate technology.
