The Learner and Learning

INTASC Standard 2: Learning Differences

The artifact I chose is a chapter presentation created with prezi for the introduction to exceptionalities course at the College of Menominee Nation. The chapter presented is Low-Incidence Disabilities: Multiple Disabilities, Deaf-Blindness, and Traumatic Brain Injury. The requirement was to collaborate with a classmate to create a presentation and deliver the information to the class. The presentation briefly describes important components of the chapter.

INTASC Teacher Standard Alignment

This artifact addresses INTASC standard 2: Learning Differences- “The teacher understands students with exceptional needs, including those associated with disabilities and giftedness, and knows how to use strategies and resources to address these needs.”

This artifact aligns with this standard because the preparation for this presentation gave me an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of students with exceptional needs. Learning about educational approaches gave me strategies to use to meet the needs of learners with low-incidence disabilities.

This engaging presentation summarizes multiple disabilities, deaf-blindness, and traumatic brain injury. This prezi presentation is a unique way to virtualize and display a chapter.

Strategies and educational approaches for students with exceptional needs is what I gained most from this experience. I have been made aware of the characteristics and placement options for students with low-incidence disabilities. I discovered and utilized a new captivating technology to effectively deliver influential material to my peers. This website allowed me to create a unique presentation of the assigned chapter. What I have learned through this experience will impact my community by educating an audience integrating engaging technology.
